What is a SPDIF input in TV?

    1. S/PDIF stands for Sony/Philips Digital Interface.
    2. It is a signal transmission mechanism that uses optical cables to transport audio between devices.
    3. Though not common in modern electronics, SPDIF ports are located inside the TV on its motherboard.
    4. SPDIF transports digital signals without having to convert them to analog first as is the case in many signal systems.
